The last time I updated you all it was all good news about writing the 3rd album, but unfortunately this update is a less happy one (assuming if you like us.... and if you don't, why are you reading our blog?!).
So here it is... Due to many pressures inside and outside of the band we've decided to put the album writing on hold, and ultimately Sal. This isn't a "we're splitting up" notice, although at the moment it's difficult to see a situation where it would be worth us getting back together.
So I'd just like to say a HOOOOOOOOOOOOOGE thank you to everyone who's supported and helped us over our many years of existence.
We salute you!
This doesn't mean we've all died, and will probably work on other projects so we'll keep you updated when these things happen.... Like Cat's solo album she's currently writing!!!!
Yep, you can't keep our Catrin Wyn down and she's penning a concept album which is very excited about... and it's sounding pretty awesome if I do say so myself.
More details will follow when we have them.

Happy new year from SAL
So what can you expect this year from SAL? 2010 was a quiet year for us as a band due to all sorts of "life" things happening (don't you hate it when life get's in the way of your music?), but Cat certainly made up for our collective "lack of anything" with work on the Manic's new album and appearances on numerous TV shows.
Well the SAL news is we're about 6 songs deep into our 3rd album, and it's already sounding a bit special.
"Yeah, you would say that" I hear you say? Well maybe you're right, but in this instance, I shit you not, these songs are the best songs we've written EVER!
We'll keep you informed of our progress, but until then have a brill beginning to 2011!

Later with Jools Holland
So... what have Sal been up to this year you ask? well it may seem quite to you but behind the scenes it's all been happening. We've been writing songs and lyrics for the new album, exciting in itself, but also Cat was on Jools Holland's 250th Anniversary show with The Manic Street Preachers! woo hoo. Our girl arranged vocals for 4 of the tracks on the new number 1 album 'Postcards from a Young Man'. Check out 'Some Kind of Nothingness' Here and the title track Here Look out for the Official Charts tonight, here's to 'Postcards..' being Number 1.

Rhondda Sound Beach Party!
Hello Friends of Sal,
We haven't had a chance to post an update in a while, but we thought it's time we did and let you know what's going on at the Sal camp :)
Firstly I want to mention our awesome gig at The Green Rooms in Treforest last Friday. We've never played there before and it was a great place, if you haven't been there yet you should go along. It was quite a surreal night as we played to the same audience many years ago when we released the first album and did a tour of schools in the valleys. There was one school where it all went horribly wrong. Picture the scene....
The school had set out chairs for all the kids to sit down to watch the gig, now as you know we're not a 'sit down and watch' band, so before you know it chairs were being flung aside and swarms of kids were moshing like crazy! ha ha. Anyway....we had this great Sal graffiti wall at the time, a way for everyone to be a part of the tour and sign and get their messages on it. So....a great idea, or so we thought at the time, turned out to be a very bad move! As the moshers were jumping, headbanging, diving, twirling, flying all over the place, the wall comes tumbling down! argggggghhhhhhhh, I'll never forget the moment. Someone landed under it, oh no. All the teachers came running over, there was shouting and panic, but rest assured folks, nobody was hurt. But we went down in history in that school.
Back to present day at The Green Rooms, these kids are now grown up and off to university and remembered us and the whole day. Ah, Awesome!
I have more news coming up....

Request SAL play in YOUR town
Hey!
We've gone and teamed up with GigsWiz to get a bit more interactive with you.
If you go to SAL's MySpace you can request that we play in your home town.
The best bit (apart from seeing us)? It's free, you don't have to sign up or give your email, and you won't get spammed. The only thing you have to tell us is where you want us to play!
Be seeing you!
SALx
